Discovery Center Specials
In doing our part in Governor Rell’s Staycation program, the Discovery Center welcomes Connecticut resident and author Jan Mann. Along with writing, Jan has long had a passion for day tripping and enjoyed many years of designing special outings for friends and family before embarking on the adventure of writing a day tripping book
Jan will join us in the Discovery Tent on Saturday, September 27 from 1:30-2:30pm for a brief talk about her new book Cruising Connecticut With a Picnic Basket followed by a book signing. (Only copies purchased at the Fair will be signed by Jan.) A percentage of the sale of the book goes to the Durham Fair Association.
Cruising Connecticut
gives a detailed description of forty-two diverse destinations with activities suitable to a variety of ages and interests. Readers will be introduced to new places as well as get updates on well-known tourist spots. The length of time an activity takes also varies, because sometimes our schedule allows us to indulge in an entire day of fun, while other times we just need a breather, a two-hour interlude away from the routine in order to get re-energized. In addition, Jan provides us with delectable menus (and the recipes) to take with us in our picnic basket. Check out Jan’s web site
