Getting Involved

Did you know that the Durham Fair is the largest all-volunteer fair in North America? For this homestyle fair that pulls in, typically, more than 200,000 fairgoers over three days, that means MANY volunteers working in many areas to make it all come together. And for 88 years, the volunteers have made the difference.

If you have some time on your hands, you're new to the area, you like getting involved, we'd like to hear from you! So email us at your convenience, and we will get back to you! Below are two areas where we always need volunteers!

Information Booths: This is a great way to "see the fair," by learning where everything is and helping out in one of three information booths on the fairgrounds. Whether it's knowing where to find the "big donut guy," pointing a fairgoer to the commercial building where those "great yellow rubber brooms" are or filling out an ID tag for a youngster, you'll definitely know you're doing something worthwhile.

Public Safety: Public Safety head Francis Willett is looking for volunteers to head-up the different parking lots the fair uses for offsite parking. He's also looking for local service groups or school organizations interested in making some fundraiser dollars by helping to park cars in one of several Durham Fair parking lots. If you think you'd like to help out.
