2026 Drawing Contest Rules

• Any horses not weighed on Saturday must weigh on day of draft on Durham Fair scales.
• Rules for draft as adopted by Eastern Draft Horse Association will be followed and enforced. Ribbons awarded to winners in each class.
• $20 premium will be paid to each team pulling the initial load and not winning any prize money.
• No alcoholic beverages are allowed anywhere on the grounds or in the parking areas.
• No person under the influence of liqueur will be permitted to drive.
• In accordance with Connecticut P.A. 73-312, all equine animals are required to be vaccinated for the control of Venezuelan equine encephalomyelitis and rabies. Horses are recommended to be vaccinated for EEE within 6 months of first show date.
• All horses must have a negative (AGID) Coggins test or ELISA test for Equine Infectious Anemia within 12 months prior to show date, and be accompanied by such certificate. It is highly recommended that horses be vaccinated against EEE and WNV within 6 months of their first show date.
• Authorized Persons in the Ring: The pit personnel and the owners or agent only. Only one teamster and two helpers allowed in front of the runaway bar.
• The Durham Fair expects that all animals will be treated in a humane manner. Any exhibitor, or representative of an exhibitor, who treats any animal in an inhumane manner, or in a manner which appears to be inhumane, will be removed from the fairgrounds. All premiums and awards will be forfeited.
• The Superintendents/Judges are responsible for enforcement of all rules. They shall determine the winners and shall award the prizes in accordance with the rules. Failure to comply promptly with the directions of the Judges and Superintendents shall result in immediate disqualification of any contestant. Drivers shall name the team they are going to drive before drawing numbers for position of order. Premiums will only be paid to the owner/exhibitor.
